Drama, guild recruitment and world kills from the WoW Insider guildwatch.

DRAMA

  • Split on Icecrown-H: Dark Talisman is dead. People who didn't like being yelled at by DT's raidleader formed a guild called Wraith, while those who didn't mind being yelled at (maybe to them it's relaxing) formed Sedition.
  • This from MBAzeroth: Lots of guilds are going through the expected BC drama right now-- the fact that the raid limit lowered and everyone was giving 10 more levels to gain means guilds are being pushed to the breaking point right now.
Blizzard just released the WoW Armory. It contains character profiles, guild profiles, team arena profiles and a whole heap of other information pulled directly from their databases.

Someone's very nice girlfriend made their Warcraft addicted boyfriend a horde shield cake for his birthday, looks like a TON of effort went into it too.

What do you think is the worst corpse run in World of Warcraft? Man they can be a pain the ass! Anyway here's the top 5 mentioned so far...

  1. Blackwing Lair, Molten Core, UBRS, LBRS, or BRD. Not a long run, but probably the run everyone's done the most -- and we've all fallen into the giant pit in the middle and made 39 other people wait for us at some time.
  2. Razorfen Downs or Razorfen Kraul. Set yourself on autorun and get a cup of coffee.
  3. Coilfang Reservoir, particularly for Alliance. Am I the only person who can never see where they're going in the tunnel in ghost form?
  4. Getting back to C'thun before they added a teleport near the beginning of AQ40.

Here's a list of the hotfixes that Blizzard has applied this week:

  • Pets will no longer trigger the Flame Wreath effect.
  • Kael'Thas' phoenix pets should now have the correct immunities.
  • Magtheridon's Blast Wave should now function properly.
  • 'The Lurker Below' should now spawn correctly after being reset.
  • Cyclone no longer causes the targeted player to be considered dead for the arena counter.

The first 2.0.10 patch notes caused quite a bit of a stir and so it seems that Blizzard saw fit to revise them, at least on the test realms for now...

  • The effectiveness of priest's "Fade: Rank 7" has been increased by approximately 25%. This doesn't address concerns about Fade's uselessness in PvP and solo situations, it should help priests in some group situations.
  • Per Nethaera, the priest's Circle of Healing spell mana cost will be reduced by 25%, not 33% as the patch notes say, or 30% as Eyonix mentioned recently.
The Burning Crusade has effected the makeup of the World of Warcraft population significantly with Blood Elves now being the most popular Horde race, and Paladins the most popular class within the BE's. For Alliance the Dranei haven't had as much of an effect, but they are still up there!
An American company promoting power supply units seem to be aiming for gold farmers - cause when there's cash involved, you don't want the power going down...

Here's the official patch notes for the 2.0.10 patch, some big changes coming!

General

    * Some logic was fixed in the "Natural Remedies" quest so that Pathaleon the Calculator's Image will always spawn during the ritual.
    * Goliathon and his shardlings can no longer be pulled to nearby areas that have guards.
    * More fixes implemented in the "It's a Fel Reaver, But With Heart" quest to keep the Scrapped Fel Reaver from breaking.
    * The Orb of the Blackwhelp and Hallowed Wands can no longer be used in combat, and the transformation will be canceled if the player receives damage.
    * The Scrap Reaver in Netherstorm repairs reduced from 10,000 health to 8,500 health over 10 seconds.
    * Battle of the Crimson Watch
o Illidari Mind Breaker has been weakened.
o Illidari Highlords can now be CC'ed but not Charmed.

Someone is complaining about the stats of rogues at level 70 as compared to level 60, apparently they aren't as good. What is proposes seems quite well thought out - either give them the chance to train mail at level 40, or make a 31 point talent with the same ability!
As WoW Insider reports, priest will be nerfed in the coming patch. Shadow priests have less damage and holy priests have one of their key spells put on to a cooldown... And I thought everyone had been saying they needed a buff!?
Nihilum (UK based guild) have downed Magtheridon right after he was fixed by Blizzard. Well done!

Seems that Paladins have quietly got a physical damage output nerf for Forebearance...

Forbearance now applies a -15% physical damage [edit: some reports are saying all damage] penatly for the duration. It does not seem to affect healing, did not test damage spells. This is for forebearance caused by BoP/DS. DS and AW are also now on linked timers, and AW does not cause forbearance. So if your DS is on cooldown, you cannot AW even if forbearance is gone. Likewise you cannot DS until AW cools down.

Blizzard is retuning the way that close combat DPS is calculated in raids...

We're going to be doing a tuning pass on our dungeon and raid content to make sure that the point blank damage that Melee dps is taking (in particular rogues) isn't overly harsh.

For example, we'll be changing many monster cleaves to be a directional, 180 degree cone attack, rather than a 360 degree chain melee attack.

Expect these changes in a future patch. More details to come.

The LFG chat channel is coming back, albeit with a few changes and requirements...

We're making many improvements to the Looking For Group tool, most of which are still in production and can't yet be discussed. Player suggestions and feedback are playing a large part in the changes we're making and we want to emphasize that we are indeed making improvements.

The change we can talk about right now is indeed the return of the looking for group channel in the next major content patch. With it comes a rather significant requirement, and that is that you will have to be in the LFG system set to looking for a group or looking for more to see and use the channel. The global LFG channel will only be viewable and available for use to players while they are in the LFG system.

We hope to see the combination of the LFG tool coupled with the ease of use of a global channel help to improve the LFG tool and players use of the tool. Again we're making other improvements based on feedback and suggestions which we'll be able to discuss in the near future.
