Alterac Valley will see a few very significant improvements in the next patch and we wanted to share the details of what we have planned.

The first change will be to move the Horde's starting tunnel back to a more equal distance from the first objectives, which will help evenly distance the starting points for each side across the terrain when the battle commences.

In addition, the General and Warmasters for each faction will receive a stacking buff from each other that boosts their health and damage. The more of them that are still in the battleground, the more dangerous they will all be. This will put a greater focus on destroying (and defending!) the towers that remove the Warmasters as players work toward defeating the appropriate General and conquering the land.

What do you think about making people bleed money in PVP too?

Healers are OP in PvP at the moment. Almost endless mana pools contribute to this fact. Make bleed effects like deep wounds, rend, rupture, garrotte etc. also bleed mana. It won't be massively overpowered but it might help a little.

WoW Insider talk about what they consider to be essential addons when you are battling in the Arena.

There are literally thousands of addons out there, and some of us quickly develop an almost unhealthy reliance on all the bells and whistles. I'm a firm follower of the minimalistic movement: if I hardly interact with a particular addon during a typical game session, it disappears from my AddOns folder, no matter how nice or "useful" it seems. I prefer quicker loading and response times, to conveniences that are situational at best, thank you.

Again more from Tigole, this time he tells us that all battlemasters will now be on platforms. So no more big fat ass taurens blocking them!

In 2.4, the Battlemasters are standing on platforms with collision around them.

We're also working on a better solution for Wrath of the Lich King.

In our continued efforts to support fair gameplay in World of Warcraft and to provide a positive experience for players, we are currently taking steps to ensure fair and enjoyable competition in the Battlegrounds. Starting immediately, we will be issuing warnings and penalties, including suspensions and the removal of Honor points and recently acquired Honor rewards, for non-participation in Battleground games.

We are taking action against thousands of accounts immediately, and will continue to monitor these situations and regularly take action against violators. If you encounter a player in a Battleground who is intentionally not participating in the battle for an extended period of time, please help us track the situation and report the player as AFK. For information on how to complete an in-game AFK report, please go here: (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/battlegrounds/info.html). All reports will be thoroughly investigated, and corrective action will only be taken if the violation is confirmed.
We’ve recently applied a hotfix that increases the hitpoints for both Balinda Stonehearth and Vanndar Stormpike in Alterac Valley. This change is being made to help assist in balancing the opposing sides and their ability to compete in the battleground.

We will continue to track the balance of the battleground and the factions as they fight for supremacy in Alterac Valley, and continue to make further changes as needed.

Here's a very interesting analysis on AFK'ers and reporting them, much more deeper than normal, what do you think:

AFKers have a set amount of honor they are looking to gather. Once they hit that number they will stop, because what's the point of farming honor beyond that. So by reporting them you are ensuring more AFKers in your games. Instead of them completing their honor grind in 500 games, it takes them 750 because they were idled 250 times. Now imagine this on a widescale and you'll see the amount of AFKers per game scale up with the amount of people you idle per game.

Blizzard FINALLY seem about to do something about the 2v2 Arena queues:

It's an issue, and we're aware and will be making changes to help with the wait times. The change will require a patch, but will not be a part of 2.3.2. I'll state a vague "future patch" just to be safe, but we're hoping to resolve the wait times as soon as possible.

The change will make it so that more instances can kick up in a shorter amount of time. Which doesn't necessarily mean there can't ever be a wait again, but it should drastically decrease them. Of course, prime-time 2v2 is still going to be run the most and susceptible to the longest wait, but our hope would be to make "the longest wait" inconsequential.

Here's another new site, this one providing all the info you'll need to know about Arena teams - and it's taken in real time from the server!

This is a real time cross realm global arena ranking for World of Warcraft. It features all the best teams in 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 around the globe.

Break back the old PVP honor grind - yes or no? A surprising number of people are actually saying yes!

Seriously though, PVPers dont earn there gear at all since expansion. Arenas are a joke and you get gear for being mediocre and little time input. When I was ranking up before expansion it always gave me more incentive to play if I knew next week I would be gaining a new rank. Ranks also showed how much someone put into their character.

Theres no dedication to anything anymore in this game.

PvEers cant afk there way to T4, but PvPers can afk there way to S1 gear.
PvEers cant wipe there way to T6, but PvPers can break even for S3 gear.

It just doesnt make sense to PvE, at least with a honor grind it would make people actually do something in BGs otherwise they will never see the gear.

Here's some talk of a pretty crazy pet exploit being used in Arenas, and Blizzards plan to fix it.

Recently I fought an arena team which included a hunter pet named the same as the team's priest. As a result, every time I tried to target the priest via any method other than mousing directly over him (via proximo addon or /target command) I got the pet instead.

I was informed by a GM that this is legal. Is that correct?

If so, may I suggest that all /target functions prioritize targeting players instead of their pets? Or make it impossible for a pet to share the name of a character on the same server.

Hmmm, not much news on the World of Warcraft front, but here's an OK post from WoW Insider that will be good for anyone wanting to know the basics of PVP - how it works, etc, etc.
Should there be neutral guards at summoning stones to stop the PVP that goes on there? While it can be a pain in the butt sometimes, I don't think it is too much of an issue and can sometimes be quite fun.
Here's an interesting question - how is the Alterac Valley boycott by the Alliance going for you? Queues on my server are up over one hour for AV... I'm horde of course.
There is some crazy Arathi Basin bug going around now where everyone just falls through the map! Here's some screenshots of what happens.
