Yup, all the gear you've worked so hard to get since the release of the Burning Crussade will be made obselete with The Wrath of the Lich King.

We did that for about 2 years, then The Burning Crusade came out, and we've been doing it again for about a year so far, seems it's about time for a change of pace and a real big update again.

Also "resetting" the gear helps even out the playing field which can especially be helpful for new characters (Ex. Deathknights) or people who want to get into raiding. Those who want to be on the bleeding edge will get back to it, but I don't think it hurts anything to do this. No items you get make you permanently great, you need to keep playing to maintain awesomeness.

The game moves forward.

As promosed, Arena 1 set items are being made available for honor and bg marks come Season 3. MMO Champion have done some research and found out how much you'll need to shell out.

33% +sepll dmg will soon be added to all healing gear and testing for it is apparently going well.

How is this going on testing? It's going well last I heard and we haven't seen any potential problems with it.

We haven't seen any OP issues with this even when looking at classes with high armor vs cloth wearers.

Players will be able to see it in action on the Test Realm fairly soon. I suggest that if you get the opportunity, that you download it and try it and the rest of the new changes out when it goes live. We're looking forward to seeing what the community experiences as well.

If you have or get any legendary items, they won't be upgraded and so will become obselete - pretty stupid.

A little longer but still short answer: Currently we don't plan to put in a way to upgrade existing legendary items.

Another great piece of patch 2.3 PVP gear news:

As of patch 2.3 all items in the gladiator season 1, 2, and 3 sets will be part of the same set, so you can use those items interchangably and keep the set bonuses (ie: you can wear the season 2 shoulders along with the season 3 helm, chest, legs) and retain the 4 piece set bonus.

Ask Tom Chilton for something and he shall giveth.... People wanted a PVP healing cloak and he has given them one in the 2.3 patch. You have to read through all the pages.

Don't expect 8 piece armor sets coming back... this Blizzard poster makes a great point on why 5 piece sets are ideal.

The problem with a big 8 piece armor set is that it may cause someone to ignore an item that would be great for them as they are focused on the specific items that will get their set bonus. With the 5 piece sets, players are able to mix and match pieces to fit their style of play better or even help out for the specific encounter they are at.

You might have to purchase old Arena gear with AB,WSG honor points in the future...

It was mentioned at BlizzCon that as arena sets fall off they would make their way to the honor system. So when a season 3 set is released, season 1 would fall off the arena vendors and onto the honor vendors, but this may not include weapons.

As the title says, someone very dedicated has gotten a world first in completing the Warglaive of Azzinoth Set. The guy was Furi from Blood Legion on the Illidan server.

Are you trying to get to the Arena Season 2 gear vendors? Well you could be in for a bit of a fight according to some of these screenshots!

A couple of players have been complaining about the insanity, so Drysc says on the forums that there are now temporary versions of Krixel, the rewards vendor, appearing in Orgrimmar's Hall of Legends, Stormwind's Champion's Hall, and outside of the Blade's Edge arena. There's no time set as to when the extra vendors will disappear (why wouldn't they have them in all places all the time?), but if you want a firsthand look at what there is to offer, you've got three more places to do it.

Mages are having their Arena gear looked at, and could be getting some beneficial stats changes as a result:

The item team is looking over the mage set again to verify whether it came in under its stat budget. Any changes that would be made, however, wouldn’t be ready or implemented by the time the patch is released and the items are made available. We can’t of course guarantee that changes will be made, but if the set turns out to have fewer stat points than intended we’ll get it fixed as soon as possible.

So your guild has progressed to the high end game content, but you need gear from the lower instances to be viable in them... what do you do?

How did you handle the difficult times where you wanted to straight-out progress, but people needed gear from farm status instances? Did you require going to these instances, much to the disgruntlement of many of the old school, 8/8 t2 or more crowd? Or did you have to cater to those who had majority opinion, and only accept the most geared applicants?

If there was one item you would never sell, no matter how useless it was, what would it be?

No matter how obsolete it may become.

If I had to pick one thing to keep, it would be my Nat Pagle fishing pole.

What would you keep? Gear or item, it doesn't matter.

Say you were going to be stranded on a desert island off of the STV coast and fatigue kept you from ever leaving and your hearth/teleporting abilities were gone.

Remember the battle ground gear matching that was going to be implemented in the 2.1 patch... it was meant to lessen the effect of twinks and all that. Well some people aren't so sure it is working yet, however a Blizzard poster has responded:

The matching system as it is now is set to be pretty loose. Partially because the system is new. The technology is in now though, and now that it's there we can begin tweaking the settings, tightening up how picky it is and see real results. The other part is the battlegrounds don't have a ton of people playing in them, and so it's going to be looser to keep the queue times down.

We will be making adjustments, but the impact of the matching system at this moment is going to be minimal. It's new, we don't want to start turning knobs before we really have an idea of the effect and see the queue times crank up to a few hours for everyone.

Here's some PVE player complaining in the forums that casuals have too greater access to good gear through the Arena PVP system courtesy of its introduction in the Burning Crusade. It's safe to say that he gets burned.
