Wanna find out how pet loyalty works - well this site should give you som sort of insight...

As you may remember, I’ve been trying to piece together the underpinnings of pet loyalty in my free time. Today I spent many hours logged in (although I wouldn’t exactly call it playing), taming new pets and waiting for them to reach loyalty level 2 (Unruly), stopwatch and notepad in hand. The data I gathered indicates some interesting possibilities, although I’m not quite ready to call it definitive.

The most useful thing I discovered: It looks like that, in order to get a newly tamed pet from Rebellious (loyalty 1) to Unruly (loyalty 2), the pet needs to earn experience equal to 5% of the experience you need for your next level.

It seems that now with the 2.1 patch, hunters can tame 2 pets at once...

If you then go back to the Stable Master, your dismissed pet will have been placed in any stable spots you have open. If you don't have one open, but then buy one, Petopia reports that the dismissed pet will appear in your purchased slot, and that all three pets will be available to you, even after you log in and out. You can even dismiss and tame a pet multiple times-- at one point, Petopia had a total of five pets (two inaccessible from the stable) to juggle at a time.

Hunters pets are getting two new spells in the 2.1 patch as well as more animals being made available to become pets.

A little post on pet loyalty, happiness, and how the pet talent points are awarded to spend....

Now loyalty is another matter. When you first successfully tame a pet, it's at its lowest loyalty and happiness. Loyalty comes in Rebellious, Unruly, Submissive, Dependable, Faithful, and Man's Best Friend (your dog would be jealous). Higher level pets gain more training points from loyalty compared with lower level pets.

Training points are much like skill points only for pets. Pet skills are acquired and level through training points. Pet skills have several ranks, you can choose not to use some but it will cost the same as if you did. Skills are divided into two types: passive (resistance, armor) and active (only a maximum of four - bite, rake). Respeccing the pet would require going to a pet trainer - just like you would go to a trainer to respecc your character.

Warlocks pets are going to vanish (and presumably not require a soul shard to reppear), when you get on a mount or use a flight path.

We intend to make a change so that Warlock pets will vanish when you mount and reappear when you dismount from flying mounts, regular mounts and even flight paths to help conserve the need to use soul shards to resummon.

This will most likely be in a future patch that we do however, we do not have a specific date as of yet. At current our testing is looking promising for this feature.

Hunters will be getting some new abilities for their pets at some stage in the future. Like they weren't already overpowered!!

I actually had this as one of the things I wanted to get you all an update on. We still intend to add more pet abilities and will most likely start with the next large patch we do. I can't give you a specific patch number or date, but it will be the start of the additions that we have been planning to do. We will be adding more gradually over time after that as well.

Warlocks can't choose their pet names like hunters can (for some unknown reason). And as you can guess a few of them like to have a little cry about it because their pets might get assigned stupid names (I believe they get assigned when the lock summons their pet for the 1st time).

Anyway, here's a thread all about it...

A Felguard is the new Warlock pet that comes in the Burning Crusade - but does anyone know WTF is up with this pic? Who ever saw a pet with a main hand weapon that does 621.4 DPS?

I say again - WTF!?
