Rogue changes are apparently being looked at right now and WoW Insider have a good summary of them all and what they could mean for you rogues out there.

Vanish and Cloak of Shadows are currently bugged:

With this information we've been able to identify at least one issue with cloak of shadows and vanish.

We are continuing to investigate these issues and if you have more information please post it in this thread.

Please also remember that as it says in the "Issues that are not bugs" sticky there are situations where vanish can be broken by attacks due to client/server latency, this is an unfortunate limitation of our game and will not change in the foreseeable future.

Here's a big class review summary for Rogues from the official European forums:

Last week I asked you guys to submit some feedback regarding your current situation with the Rogue class. Here’s a summary of what you guys said. Feel free to comment and provide feedback if you want (maybe I missed something, maybe you got a better idea, etc).

Who says that Blizzard doesn't listen to players whining about their class on the forums... here we actually have a Blizz Poster acknowledging some issues that rogues have.

There are a lot of valid concerns and thoughts inhere, so I would like to blue-tag this thread just to let you know we have both seen and read this thread. Most of the things posted inhere have been forwarded to the developers already, and some of the things have already been commented in other threads both on these forums and the US forums.

Apparently the blind cooldown has been reduced to 1 minute, with the duration also reduced to 8 seconds on the PTR. Some people are happy... others aren't. Sounds good for rogues though!

The large amount of buffs and whatknot that rogues are currently scheduled to receive in the 2.1.0 patch are already posted here, but here's a post that explores the fallout of the aforementioned as well as Paladin nerfs.

There are LOTS of posts from pissed off people talking about overpowered rogues and at the other end of the scale there are alot of Paladins complaining.

Here's a list of the current rogue changes being run on the PTR.

  • Added a new double-attack animation for "Mutilate".
  • "Cloak of Shadows": The tooltip has been adjusted to indicate this ability removes hostile effects, rather than dispels them. "Cloak of Shadows" does not count as a dispel, and will not interact with dispel resistance or effects triggered by dispelling. This ability no longer removes the "Weakened Soul" debuff.
  • "Deadly Throw": This ability will now damage hunters and their pets when they are affected by "The Beast Within" or "Bestial Wrath". Those targets will still be immune to the movement impairing portion of "Deadly Throw".
  • Fixed a data error that caused "Ghostly Strike" and "Riposte" to generate more threat than intended.
  • Fixed a bug where the "Silence" effect on "Garrote" was getting resisted too often.
  • "Insignia of the Alliance/Horde" and "Medallion of the Alliance/Horde" now remove "Fear", "Stun" and "Polymorph" effects and no longer remove "Charm" effects.
  • "Improved Sap" (Subtlety) renamed "Dirty Tricks": Increases the range of your "Sap" and "Blind" abilities by 2/4 yards and reduces the energy cost of your "Sap" and "Blind" abilities by 25/50%
  • Increased the frequency and amount of "Blinding Powder" found in pickpocketed junk boxes.
  • "Mutilate": This ability will now always consume the "Cold Blood" buff when it strikes an opponent.
  • Poisons: The difficulty of dispelling these is now based off the level of the player, not the level of the weapon the poison is applied to.
  • Reduced the reagents required to create most poisons.
  • "Remorseless Attacks" (Assassination): "Hemorrhage" added to the buff tooltip. This ability will no longer trigger from killing totems.
  • Rogue poisons no longer have charges.
  • "Sap" no longer removes you from stealth when used.
  • "Shadowstep" (Subtlety): The cooldown has been reduced to 15 seconds.
  • "Stealth" will now be broken correctly by damage shield such as "Oil of Immolation".
  • "Surprise Attacks" (Combat): This talent now correctly prevents "Envenom" from being dodged.

Someone is complaining about the stats of rogues at level 70 as compared to level 60, apparently they aren't as good. What is proposes seems quite well thought out - either give them the chance to train mail at level 40, or make a 31 point talent with the same ability!

Rogues are pissed because the current animations when they go into stealth mode are crap. However Blizz has some good news:

We have just received some feedback from the developers regarding this issue and it is good news indeed :-)

The animators are currently working on completely new stealth movement animations to solve this issue. This basically means that the current "funny looking" stealth animations will be replaced with new better looking ones :-)

Currently this issue is expected to be resolved in patch 2.1, but there is a chance that the new animations will not be ready by that time, which may result in the fix being delayed for a later patch.

People are hitting 70 in the BC beta and apparently rogues and warriors are pissed that they don't do enough DPS anymore. Warriors I dont think have much to complain about, but rogues are pretty screwed in their shitty leather armor if they can't DPS very well.
