There are a few nice improvements we're making to the mage class in patch 2.3.2 (a small patch that will be on the public test realms soon) and we wanted to share them with you. First, we'll start out with two changes affecting all mages. Ice block will become a core ability, trainable by all mages at level 30. Additionally, conjure mana (rank 6) will restore 1800-3000 mana and will now have three charges, meaning you can use it three times before having to create a new one.

To be sure we're clear here, yes, the same cooldown will still apply between usages. :P
Mage buffs are incoming, WoW Insider have a comprehensive list containing a couple of items that we can expect.
Here's a good video courtesy of the guys at Cruse - its a video guide for Mage PVP and Arena play.

Great post from the forums that should tell you mages how to AOE grind effectively, and where.

Typical post in the WoW forums who claims that mages (and Horde) are nerfed in the BC and hence he is quitting. Alot of flames, but the guy does seem to have some valid points.

It's not the AoE nerf.
It's not the Ignite nerf.
It's not the counterspell nerf.
It's not the crowd-control nerf.
It's not the fact that our water is useless in the xpac.
It's not the fact that portal/teleport is no longer useful nor has a point in the xpac.
It's not the fact that you morons made gear the deciding factor in PvE and PvP.
It's not the fact that you never adjusted/reviewed professions in 2 years.
It's not the fact that you continue to buff Warlocks despise the fact they're grossly overpowered.
It's not the fact that you pander to alliance with everything, including AV-layout and Shaman-nerfs.
It's not the fact that you aren't providing any explanations as to what you're doing and/or why.
It's not the joke that is T0.5.
It's not the raid-or-die mechanics of the game you screwed up on.
It's not the "hire a chinese farmer if you want to reach HWL" for PvP setup.
It's not the fact that gear equivalent to raid-gear requires (gasp) raid-items to craft.
It's not the fact that all new content except Dire Maul has been for raiders.
